Improving audio quality
Microphone placement
The position of your microphone significantly affects transcription accuracy:
- Place the microphone between you and your patient, ideally on the desk.
- Keep it 30–60 cm from both speakers for balanced audio.
- An external USB microphone generally produces better results than a built-in laptop mic.
Reducing background noise
- Close windows and doors to minimize outside noise.
- Turn off fans, air conditioning, or other constant noise sources if possible.
- Avoid rustling papers or typing during the session.
Speaking clearly
- Speak at a natural pace — neither too fast nor too slow.
- Avoid speaking over each other when possible.
- If a key term is important, enunciate clearly.
Tip: Test your setup by running a short session and checking the transcription quality before your first real consultation.
