Transcription quality issues
Common causes of poor transcription
- Background noise — fans, traffic, or other conversations nearby.
- Microphone too far away — the mic should be within 30–60 cm of speakers.
- Overlapping speech — when both speakers talk at the same time.
- Low microphone volume — check your system input level settings.
Improve your setup
- Use an external USB microphone for better audio quality.
- Place the microphone on the desk between you and your patient.
- Close windows and doors to reduce ambient noise.
- Increase the microphone input volume in your system settings if the level is too low.
Test before your session
Run a short test session and check the transcription quality. This helps you adjust your setup before an important consultation.
Tip: Even small improvements in microphone placement can significantly improve transcription accuracy.
