AI in psychomotor therapy: what it can do for your sessions and assessments

Session notes, psychomotor assessments, ChatGPT. What AI can do for a psychomotor therapist, what not to give it, and where to start.

Countries covered : France

In psychomotor therapy, AI is mostly useful for writing. Session notes, assessments, documents for families and schools. It can save time, as long as you know what it does well and what it cannot do.

What AI can do for you

Session notes

You dictate what you observed right after the session, and the tool turns it into a clean note. It can also transcribe conversations with parents. The note is added to the patient's record. See our session notes template.

The assessment report

From your observations and test results, AI can write a structured first draft of the assessment. You review it, check every result and adjust the analysis. See our article on the psychomotor assessment.

Documents for families, schools and disability services

Explaining a child's difficulties to parents in plain words, preparing a note for the teacher, writing the report that goes with a disability file. AI gives a good first draft that you adapt.

Following progress over time

When every session sits in the same record, it becomes easy to see what has improved before a progress assessment.

What about ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is useful for anything that contains no patient data. A general advice sheet for parents, activity ideas, a description of your practice.

Patient data, however, does not belong there. The consumer version is not certified to host health data. According to OpenAI's help centre, content from personal accounts may be used to train models unless you turn off the « Improve the model for everyone » setting. And no data processing agreement protects you.

Removing the name is not enough. Age, school year, school or town often make someone recognisable. The details are in our article on ChatGPT and patient data, which applies to psychomotor therapists too.

Telling patients

Before using a note-taking tool, inform the patient. For a child, inform the parents, and the child in words suited to their age. Explain simply how it works and ask whether they are comfortable with it. See our article on patient consent.

You remain responsible

The French National Authority for Health (HAS) and the data protection authority (CNIL) stress this point in their February 2026 working document on AI in care. The professional checks what the tool produces and compares it with their own clinical reasoning. Responsibility remains theirs.

Where to start

  1. Pick one use, the one that costs you the most time. For many psychomotor therapists, that is assessment reports.
  2. Choose a tool designed for health care, with certified hosting and a clear contract. Our article on choosing software sets out the criteria.
  3. Inform your patients and parents before you start.
  4. Review everything the tool produces, especially at the beginning.

How Delta works

Delta is an AI assistant designed with psychomotor therapists. During the session, Delta transcribes what is said, for example conversations with the child or their parents. You can also dictate what you observed right after. Delta then writes the session report, taking your specialty into account, and adds it to the patient's record. You can follow each patient's progress when it is time to renew care or prepare a disability file. Delta also writes your assessment reports.

Data stays in Europe, on infrastructure certified for health data (HDS), and AI processing runs on servers located in France. The patient's name and any information that could identify them are pseudonymised before reaching the AI, no audio file is kept, and the data is never used to train models. Delta works on computer, tablet and phone. More details on the Delta for psychomotor therapists page.

Will AI replace psychomotor therapists?

No. Observing the body, play, the relationship and the therapy itself cannot be delegated. AI lightens the writing and helps track a patient's progress.

Can I use ChatGPT to write a psychomotor assessment?

Not if the text contains patient data. The consumer version is not certified for health data and no agreement protects you. A tool designed for health care is a better fit.

Can AI note what happens without words?

No. A transcription tool only notes what is said. Dictate your observations right after the session.

Do I need to tell parents?

Yes. They must know the tool is being used and be able to say no. A poster in your practice and a word at the first appointment are enough.
