Doctolib's consultation assistant at a glance
Doctolib (the French online booking and practice software company) is best known for its calendar and online appointment booking. The Assistant de consultation is its AI note-taking tool. According to Maddyness, Doctolib presented it on 15 October 2024, first for general practitioners and paediatricians. At the time, the company announced a gradual rollout to other specialists and to allied health professionals.
Its help centre describes how it works in a few steps. The practitioner informs the patient and starts the sound capture. The consultation goes on as usual. At the end, the tool generates a summary from the transcript. The practitioner reads it, adds to it and approves it. Doctolib states that this review is mandatory, because the notes « sont susceptibles de comporter des éléments non mentionnés » (may contain things that were not said) or may leave things out.
Two versions depending on your software
- With Doctolib Médecin, Doctolib's medical software. The assistant appears in the medical observation screen. Once approved, the summary is saved in the consultation report. Some items can also be added to the history and allergies section of the file.
- The standalone version, for practitioners who use the Doctolib calendar without its medical software. You copy the summary into your usual software, or paste it into the notes of a Doctolib appointment. Doctolib says it stays available for 48 hours, and only on the computer where it was created.
Doctolib says the tool is designed to work in French, with one patient at a time and in a quiet room. A selector lets you change the language of the consultation. Before generating the note, you can pick a template and set the length, format and abbreviations. The standalone version also works on iPad (with Safari) and on Android tablets (with Chrome).
Who can use it in October 2026
Doctolib's help centre lists the specialties eligible for the standalone version trial (article updated on 10 September 2026). It includes general practitioners, paediatricians, gynaecologists and psychiatrists, several other named medical specialties, then « les autres spécialités médicales » (other medical specialties), except dermatologists. Doctolib also shows a price for midwives.
Psychologists, non-medical psychotherapists and allied health professions are not on this list. We found no official Doctolib page that opens the consultation assistant to them. If you are a psychologist and someone offers it to you, ask Doctolib for written confirmation.
For therapists, another point matters. In a press release dated 26 October 2022, Doctolib announced that it would only list professionals recognised by the health authorities, with an RPPS or ADELI number (the French national registers of health professionals). A therapist without this number therefore cannot use Doctolib's services, calendar included.
The price of Doctolib's assistant
According to its help centre, the consultation assistant is a separate, personal subscription, after a 30-day free trial. It includes the Dictée médicale, Doctolib's tool for dictating letters. The listed prices are as follows.
- €64 per month including VAT for new doctor customers, whether they have the medical software or only the calendar.
- €79 per month including VAT for doctors who use the free version of Doctolib.
- €39 per month including VAT for midwives.
Doctolib's pricing page does not publish a price list. It refers you to an adviser. So we could not check the price of the calendar or of the medical software.
Data
Doctolib says the assistant's data is hosted on servers located in the European Union and certified HDS (the French certification for health data hosting), and that data exchanges are encrypted. Also according to Doctolib, the audio is not kept after the consultation, and transcripts and suggestions are kept for 48 hours. The practitioner must inform the patient, verbally or with a poster supplied by Doctolib, and the patient can object at any time. We found no public information on whether the data may be used to train models, or on which AI providers are used.
How Delta works
Delta is the clinical assistant for mental health and allied health professionals in France, Belgium and Switzerland. During the session, Delta transcribes what is said, then prepares a session report that you review and correct. If you prefer not to capture anything during the session, you dictate your observations just afterwards, and Delta drafts the report from that dictation.
The report takes your specialty and your therapeutic approach into account. It is added to the patient file, so the whole follow-up and how it has evolved sit in one place. The file brings out the changes that matter in your approach over the sessions. In addiction care, for example, you can see how the patient's substance use changes over several months. Delta also drafts your assessment reports, letters and certificates.
Data is hosted in France, with a hosting provider certified for health data (HDS). AI processing, transcription included, takes place on servers located in France. The patient's name and identifying information are pseudonymised before they reach the AI. No audio file is kept, data is never used to train models, and it is encrypted in transit and at rest.
The trial lasts 14 days, with no credit card. The Pro plan then costs €29 per month including VAT with an annual commitment, or €35 per month including VAT with no commitment. A free version remains available, limited to 10 sessions per month. Delta works on computers, tablets and phones. Delta does not handle scheduling or appointment booking.
What Doctolib does better
- Calendar and online booking. This is Doctolib's original business. Delta does not offer it.
- Visibility. Your Doctolib profile lets patients find you and book online. If you are a psychologist taking part in Mon soutien psy (the French state scheme that reimburses psychologist sessions), the help centre explains how to show this on your profile.
- Everything in one software for doctors who use Doctolib Médecin. The summary goes straight into the consultation report and the medical file, with no copy and paste.
- Other services around the appointment. Doctolib highlights secure messaging with patients and a phone assistant.
- A longer trial. 30 days with Doctolib, against 14 days with Delta.

One note per consultation, or a follow-up that builds up
The consultation assistant produces one summary per consultation. In 2024, Journal du Net described a report structured into reason for visit, history, clinical examination and conclusion. This is the logic of a medical consultation, where each appointment often stands on its own.
In psychotherapy, a session makes sense in relation to the previous ones. What matters is what has shifted over the last three weeks or since the start of the follow-up. Delta is built around this idea. Each session report joins the patient file, and the file brings out how things are evolving. For more on what a note should contain, see our guide to psychologists' session notes.
Your therapeutic approach
Doctolib lets you choose a note template and adjust its format. We found no mention of templates specific to an approach (CBT, psychodynamic, systemic, ACT). Delta takes your specialty and your therapeutic approach into account in the session report, and then in what the file brings out over the sessions.
Sessions with more than one person
Doctolib says its assistant is designed for one patient at a time. If you see couples or families, ask about note quality in that case, both Doctolib and us, and test it during the trial.
Documents
Doctolib includes medical dictation in the subscription, so you can complete your letters by dictating. Delta also drafts your assessment reports, letters and certificates, based on what is already in the patient file.
The real price
For a doctor, Doctolib's assistant costs €64 or €79 per month including VAT, depending on their situation. It is a separate subscription, distinct from the calendar and the software. Delta costs €29 or €35 per month including VAT, but does not replace your calendar. If you keep Doctolib for appointments, compare Doctolib's assistant on its own with Delta on its own.
Can you use Doctolib and Delta together?
Yes. You can keep Doctolib for scheduling, online booking and visibility, and use Delta for session notes and the follow-up file. It is also the simplest combination for a psychologist, since Doctolib's assistant is not offered to them at present.
The two tools are not technically connected. Calendars and patient files are not synchronised between Doctolib and Delta. You add the patient in Delta, then start the session in Delta at the time of the appointment.
Which tool to choose for your situation
- You are a psychiatrist already using Doctolib Médecin. Doctolib's assistant is built into your medical file. It makes sense to try it during its 30 days. Delta will interest you if you run many long psychotherapy follow-ups and want to see each patient's progress at a glance.
- You are a psychiatrist with other medical software. Doctolib's standalone version means copying each summary into your software within 48 hours. Compare it with Delta over two weeks, with the same kinds of sessions.
- You are a psychologist. Doctolib's assistant does not list your profession. Keep Doctolib for appointments if you use it, and use a tool built for mental health for your notes, such as Delta.
- You are a therapist or psychotherapist. Without an RPPS or ADELI number, Doctolib is not open to you. With a number, the assistant is still limited to the listed medical specialties. Delta is designed for your practice.
- You are a neuropsychologist, psychomotor therapist or speech therapist. Your profession is not on Doctolib's list. Delta covers these professions.
- Your priority is filling your calendar. Doctolib, without hesitation. Delta does not do appointment booking.
