Best AI scribe for psychiatrists in 2026: the tools available in France, checked one by one
Several AI tools now draft a psychiatrist's consultation report, but not all are built for psychiatry or open to doctors in private practice. We checked each tool on its publisher's website on 9 October 2026, limits included.
Countries covered : France
What a psychiatrist needs from an AI scribe
A psychiatric consultation produces its own documents, and some of them engage your medical liability. Here is what we looked at for each tool.
- The mental status examination. Appearance, rapport, mood, form and content of thought, perception, insight. Much of it is seen rather than said. A tool that only transcribes will miss it, so you need an easy way to add it.
- Medication and its follow-up. Drugs, doses, changes, side effects. This is where a transcription error costs the most.
- Letters to colleagues. GP, another specialist, community mental health team.
- Certificates. From a simple certificate of ongoing care to certificates for care without consent.
- The link with your medical software. Prescriptions and electronic claims stay there. You need to know how the text gets into it.
- Hosting. In France, a provider that hosts health data for a health professional must hold HDS certification (Hébergeur de données de santé, the French certification for health data hosts), under Article L1111-8 of the « Code de la santé publique » (French Public Health Code). See our article on HDS hosting.
For general criteria when equipping a practice, read our guide to psychiatry software. For what AI can and cannot do in psychiatry, see our article on AI and psychiatry. Here, we compare the tools.
Our method
We kept the tools that work in French, that a psychiatrist practising in France can access in October 2026, and whose publisher gives enough information to describe them without guessing. Each profile is based on the publisher's website or help centre, consulted on 9 October 2026. When something is not stated there, we say so. Prices change often, so check them. Tools built only for psychologists are in our comparison for psychologists.
Delta publishes this comparison. We list it first because it is our tool, and we give its limits as we do for the others.

Delta
Who it is for. Psychiatrists, psychologists and other mental health and allied health practitioners, in France, Belgium and Switzerland.
During or after. Both. During the consultation, Delta transcribes what is said, then drafts a report that you review. You can also dictate your observations right after, which helps for the mental status examination or when a patient declines transcription.
Documents. Consultation reports. Delta also drafts your assessment reports, letters and certificates. The report takes account of your specialty and your therapeutic approach.
Follow-up over time. Each report is added to the patient's file, so the whole follow-up and its progress are in one place. In addiction care, for example, you can see how the patient's use changes over several months.
Hosting. Data is hosted in France, by a host certified for health data (HDS). AI processing, transcription included, runs on servers located in France. The patient's name and identifying details are pseudonymised before they reach the AI. No audio file is kept, data is never used to train models, and it is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Price. Free version limited to 10 sessions a month. Pro plan at €29 incl. VAT a month billed annually, or €35 incl. VAT a month with no commitment. 14-day trial with no bank card.
Limits. Delta does not handle prescriptions, billing or scheduling. It is not connected directly to your medical software (copy and paste, or PDF export). It is a recent tool built by a small team.
Doctolib's consultation assistant
Who it is for. Doctors who use Doctolib Médecin, Doctolib's clinical software. Doctolib's help centre lists psychiatrists among the specialties eligible for medical dictation, and the free trial covers both dictation and the assistant.
During or after. During. You start the assistant at the beginning of the consultation, then generate the notes. Medical dictation is included.
Documents. Notes structured with a template you choose, and letters. Once validated, everything goes into the patient's file in Doctolib Médecin.
Follow-up over time. This is the strength of the integration. Everything stays in your medical software, next to the prescriptions.
Hosting. Not stated in the help pages we consulted. The transcript is deleted within 48 hours of validation.
Price. €64 incl. VAT a month for doctors who are Doctolib customers, dictation included. €79 incl. VAT a month for doctors on the free version of Doctolib. 30-day trial.
Limits. Designed for one patient per consultation, which makes family interviews harder. The help pages do not mention a psychiatry-specific template. You need Doctolib Médecin. See Delta vs Doctolib.
Markus Santé
Who it is for. An assistant built first for physiotherapists, podiatrists, nurses, speech therapists and orthoptists. Its psychiatrist page says psychiatry does not yet have its own group of practitioners helping build the tool.
During or after. After. Once the patient has left, you dictate progress, examination and plan.
Documents. Clinical observation, letter to the GP, draft prescription, certificate.
Follow-up over time. Markus can summarise the history of a long-term patient, including medication changed several times.
Hosting. HDS-certified host, servers in France, no AI training on your data according to the publisher.
Price. Markus IA at €28.80 incl. VAT a month. Full plan with transcription and scheduling at €58.80 incl. VAT a month. 14-day trial with no card.
Limits. For psychiatry, the page only describes dictation after the consultation. Signing and e-prescribing stay in your own software. See also Delta vs Markus Santé.
Pllume
Who it is for. Mental health professionals only, psychiatrists included.
During or after. During, with speakers told apart. The site does not mention dictation afterwards.
Documents. Over 30 note templates, including a certificate. Letters to colleagues. Rating scales such as the MADRS or the PHQ-9. The offer also announces a medico-legal review.
Follow-up over time. A patient memory updated at each session.
Hosting. In France, with an HDS-certified host not named on the page. Identifying data is removed in the browser before drafting.
Price. Free private beta, by invitation, limited places. Announced price after the beta, €20 excl. VAT a month (€24 incl. VAT).
Limits. Invitation-only access, web app with no announced link to medical software, no usage figures published. See Delta vs Pllume.
Heidi
Who it is for. All health professions. Its mental health page names psychiatrists, psychologists and psychotherapists.
During or after. During, plus dictation from any screen with the desktop app.
Documents. Session notes, psychiatric assessments, reports, letters. Customisable templates.
Follow-up over time. Linking sessions to the same patient exists, but it is limited in the free version.
Hosting. Data in the European Union, audio deleted after transcription, no AI training, ISO 27001, ISO 42001 and SOC 2 certifications. We found no mention of HDS certification on its French pages.
Price. Free version with unlimited transcription. Praticien, Cabinet and Établissement plans, with no amount shown.
Limits. A general tool. Ask for written proof of HDS hosting before entering patient data. See Delta vs Heidi.
Nabla
Who it is for. Doctors and healthcare organisations. The Paris-based publisher reports 85,000 practitioners and more than 130 organisations. No page dedicated to psychiatry.
During or after. During, plus dictation that works inside medical software.
Documents. Medical reports, referral letter, patient summary, suggested ICD-10 codes.
Follow-up over time. The help centre states that Nabla does not store patient data and that everything stays in your web browser. In practice, long-term follow-up therefore happens in your medical software.
Hosting. The French page mentions health data hosting (HDS) and GDPR.
Price. Free trial, prices not shown.
Limits. A tool designed for medicine in general and for healthcare organisations. See Delta vs Nabla.
Dragon Copilot (Microsoft)
Who it is for. Mainly hospitals and clinics. Available in France, sold through partners including hospital software publishers.
During or after. Both. Ambient capture of the conversation during the consultation, and dictation.
Documents. Reports, referral letter, patient summary, capture of prescriptions. An October 2026 product sheet lists psychiatry and addiction medicine among the targeted specialties.
Hosting and price. Not stated on the French page.
Limits. No visible offer for a psychiatrist in solo private practice.
Tools we did not include
- myCR. Its known offer targets psychologists and their assessment reports. Its website could not be reached on 9 October 2026, so we could not check for an offer for psychiatrists.
- ChatGPT and consumer assistants. MACSF, the liability insurer for many French doctors, advises against entering patient data into them, as these tools are not HDS-certified. Our article on ChatGPT and patient data sets out the risks.
Certificates and care without consent: where the tool stops
An AI scribe can help draft a certificate of ongoing care. For certificates for psychiatric care without consent, caution is essential. They are medico-legal acts governed by the « Code de la santé publique » (Articles L3212-1 onwards and L3213-1 onwards).
These certificates follow precise rules. An admission at the request of a third party usually requires two certificates less than 15 days old, the first by a doctor who does not work in the receiving hospital. An admission ordered by the « préfet » (the State's representative in the département) rests on a detailed certificate (« certificat circonstancié »). A certificate within 24 hours and another within 72 hours then follow.
A detailed certificate describes what you observed yourself, in this patient, on that day. A tool can help structure the text or find items in the file. It must neither invent nor complete a finding. Reread each sentence as if you had to defend it before the « juge des libertés et de la détention » (the judge who reviews involuntary admissions). Our article on medical certificates sets out the general framework.
Reviewing an AI-drafted psychiatric report
According to the HAS and the CNIL (French National Authority for Health and French data protection authority, working document of February 2026), the health professional remains fully responsible when a tool assists them. MACSF adds that any generated content must be reread, validated and corrected before it goes into the patient's file. And the patient can ask to see their file (Article L1111-7 of the « Code de la santé publique »). Five points to check first.
- Medication. Name of each drug, dose, date of change. Similar names are easily confused when spoken.
- Suicide risk. What the patient said, in their own words, and your assessment. A badly transcribed negation (“he has no suicidal thoughts”) changes everything.
- The mental status examination. It must reflect what you observed, not only what was said. Our mental status examination template can serve as a framework.
- Who said what. Especially when a relative attends the consultation.
- Diagnostic hypotheses. They must be yours. Delete any label you did not choose.
For the structure, see our psychiatric consultation report template.
How to choose
- You follow patients for months or years. Choose a tool that keeps track of the follow-up and takes account of your approach, such as Delta.
- You already use Doctolib Médecin. Doctolib's assistant saves you an extra tool. Test it on your long or family consultations.
- You prefer to dictate afterwards. Markus Santé, Delta and Heidi allow it.
- You work in a hospital. The choice is usually made at hospital level, where Dragon Copilot and Nabla are offered.
Before you sign, ask the publisher these questions.
- Where is the data hosted, and is the host HDS-certified? Can you send me proof in writing?
- Is audio kept, and for how long?
- Is the patient's name removed before it reaches the AI, and is my data used to train a model?
- Can I choose, patient by patient, between transcription during the consultation and dictation afterwards?
- How does the text get into my medical software?
Test the tool on representative consultations, including unusual ones, as the HAS and CNIL document recommends. Inform your patients too. Our article on consent to AI note-taking explains how.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best AI scribe for a psychiatrist?
It depends on your practice. For long-term follow-up with reports, letters and certificates, Delta is built for that. With Doctolib Médecin, its assistant fits into your patient files. Markus Santé suits you if you dictate after the consultation.
Does an AI scribe need HDS hosting?
Yes, as soon as the provider hosts your patients' health data, such as a consultation report (Article L1111-8 of the « Code de la santé publique »). Ask for proof in writing.
Can an AI scribe write a certificate for care without consent?
It can help format the text, but the certificate remains a medico-legal act that you write, check and sign. It describes what you observed yourself.
Do I need to tell the patient?
Yes. The HAS and CNIL working document recommends clear information with a right to object, and Doctolib states that informing patients is mandatory for its assistant. If a patient declines, dictation after the consultation remains possible.
Does an AI scribe replace my medical software?
No. Prescriptions, electronic claims and billing stay in your medical software. Some tools announce an integration, such as Doctolib's assistant in Doctolib Médecin, or Nabla and Heidi with certain software. Check with yours.
