Delta vs Tandem: which AI assistant for your session notes?

Delta and Tandem compared for psychologists: who each tool is for, note-taking, patient follow-up, documents, data hosting and price.

Countries covered : Belgium, Switzerland, France

Delta and Tandem are two AI assistants that write clinical notes. Delta is the clinical assistant for mental health and allied health professionals. Tandem is a European AI medical scribe built first for doctors and care organisations, with a mental health offer among more than 50 specialties.

We make Delta. This page compares Delta and Tandem as fairly as we can, including where Tandem does better. Information about Tandem comes from its official website, checked on 9 October 2026. When something is not published there, we say so.

Tandem in a few lines

Tandem is made by Tandem Health AB, according to the footer of its website. The tool captures the conversation during the consultation, then drafts a structured note that the clinician reviews and edits before sending it to the medical record system.

The website presents Tandem for several groups, including medicine, mental health, nurses, social services, physiotherapy, dentistry and pharmacy. Tandem says it adapts to more than 50 specialties.

On adoption, the website shows several figures. According to its website, Tandem is used by more than 10,000 care organisations across Europe and integrates with over 130 medical record systems. A banner announces a $100M Series B round. We report these figures as Tandem publishes them and cannot check them.

Its mental health offer

Tandem has a page dedicated to mental health. It addresses therapists and mental health services, from therapy sessions to psychiatric assessments. According to that page, notes can include a mental status examination, a risk assessment and a treatment plan.

The same page lists generated documents such as progress notes, referral letters, therapy discharge summaries, risk assessments and patient letters. It also offers ICD-10 and SNOMED code suggestions and voice editing of the note. Psychologists from Strawberry Fields Therapy and Mindler are quoted.

Data and security

Its English security page says patient data is processed and stored in European data centres, without naming the country. The English page does not mention HDS, the French certification for health data hosting. The French version of that page refers to HDS servers in European data centres.

The website lists CE marking as a Class IIa medical device under the EU MDR, ISO 13485, ISO 27001, ISO 42001 and ISO 14001, plus GDPR and NHS compliance. According to its website, no audio is stored, and audio is deleted right after transcription. Tandem says it does not train AI models on patient data. Note retention periods and pseudonymisation are not mentioned on the pages we checked.

Its price

Tandem shows three plans. The Free plan includes unlimited note generation, up to two custom templates and limited daily Pro Actions. The Pro plan costs €125 per user per month, billed yearly, for sole practitioners and small practices. The page does not say whether VAT is included, and the monthly-billing price is not shown.

The Enterprise plan, for larger practices and care organisations, is priced on request. A free trial is offered, with no length stated.

Languages

The pages we checked do not list the languages supported for transcription and note writing. The website itself is available in several languages, including French.

Delta in a few lines

Delta is the clinical assistant for mental health and allied health professionals. It offers two ways to take notes. During the session, Delta transcribes what is said. Or, after the session, you dictate your observations. You can also add written notes.

Delta then writes the session report, with a short summary, a detailed summary and topics for the next session. It takes your profession and your approach into account (CBT, EMDR, psychodynamic, systemic). It also updates the patient record, with a summary of care so far and the goals being tracked.

Delta drafts letters, certificates and assessment reports suited to your profession. Data is hosted in France by an HDS-certified host, and AI processing happens in France. The patient's name and identifying details are pseudonymised before reaching the AI. No audio file is kept, and data is never used to train a model.

The Pro plan costs €29 per month incl. VAT billed annually (€348 a year), or €35 per month billed monthly with no commitment. A free plan is limited to 10 sessions a month. The trial lasts 14 days, with no credit card.

What sets them apart

Who it is for

This is the clearest difference. Tandem's pricing page speaks of everyone from solo clinicians to large organisations, and its homepage invites you to join thousands of clinicians. Its integrations, coding and Enterprise plan mainly serve medical practices and care organisations.

Tandem does have a mental health page, and its website quotes psychologists who use it. But for a psychologist in private practice, much of the offer (diagnostic coding, integrations with medical record systems) will go unused. Delta is built for mental health and allied health.

How notes are taken

Tandem focuses on capturing the conversation during the consultation, with voice editing afterwards. Its menu also lists a dictation product (Dictate Anywhere), not described further on the pages we checked. Delta offers two modes on an equal footing, live transcription or dictation after the session. Dictation helps when a patient prefers that nothing is transcribed.

Following the patient over time

The Tandem pages we checked describe a note generated from the conversation, then transferred in one click to your record system. They do not mention follow-up from one session to the next. Delta updates the patient record session after session, with a summary of care, tracked goals and topics for next time. For therapy that lasts months, that matters.

Documents

Both tools write documents beyond the session note. Tandem lists referral letters, therapy discharge summaries and risk assessments. Delta drafts letters, certificates and assessment reports that reflect your profession and therapeutic approach.

Data

Both tools say they keep no audio and do not train models on patient data. Tandem hosts data in European data centres without naming the country. Delta hosts data in France with an HDS-certified host, processes it with AI in France and pseudonymises it before the AI.

Price

Tandem Pro costs €125 per user per month billed yearly, with no VAT mention. Delta Pro costs €29 per month incl. VAT billed annually. On free plans, Tandem wins, since its Free plan allows unlimited notes while Delta's is limited to 10 sessions a month.

Where Tandem does better

  • CE marking. Tandem states it is CE-marked as a Class IIa medical device and holds several ISO certifications.
  • Integrations. According to its website, Tandem transfers notes in one click to over 130 medical record systems.
  • Free plan. It does not cap the number of notes.
  • Multidisciplinary teams. A centre with doctors, nurses and psychologists can use one tool for everyone.
  • Scale. Tandem shows many customers across Europe and a large funding round.

Which one to choose?

Tandem may suit you if you work in a care organisation, a health centre or a medical practice. It is also a good fit if you need notes sent into an existing medical record system, or if several professions must share one tool. CE marking as a medical device may also matter in a procurement process.

Delta may suit you if you are a psychologist, psychotherapist or allied health professional in private practice. You want to choose between transcription and dictation for each patient, keep a record that updates as care goes on, and have data hosted in France. Its price also fits a solo practitioner better.

The easiest way to decide is to try both. Tandem has a free plan, and Delta has a 14-day trial with no credit card.

Frequently asked questions

Is Tandem a good fit for psychologists in private practice?

Tandem has a mental health page and quotes psychologists who use it. But its plans and messaging mainly target doctors and care organisations. A psychologist in private practice can use it (the Pro plan also targets sole practitioners), though some features, such as diagnostic coding, mainly serve other roles. Delta is designed for mental health and allied health.

Is Tandem hosted in France with HDS certification?

According to its website, data is stored in European data centres, and the French security page mentions HDS servers. The country is not stated. Delta hosts data in France with an HDS-certified host, and AI processing also happens in France.

How much does Tandem cost for a solo practitioner?

Tandem Pro costs €125 per user per month billed yearly. The website does not say whether VAT is included. A free plan also exists. Delta Pro costs €29 per month incl. VAT billed annually, or €35 per month with no commitment.

Does Tandem keep session audio?

No, according to its website. Audio is deleted once transcription is done. Delta keeps no audio file either, audio is only used during the session to produce the transcript.

Can I use Delta without transcribing the session?

Yes. After the session, you dictate your observations and Delta writes the report from that dictation. You can also add written notes. This helps when a patient prefers that nothing is transcribed.
