Running your first session
Create a session for a patient, record the consultation and review your report.
Before you start
- Sign in to Delta with an account whose professional profile is complete.
- Check your internet connection and connect the microphone you want to use. Your computer's built-in microphone can also be selected.
- Make sure everyone taking part agrees before starting a recording.
You can use Delta in your browser or in the desktop application. The desktop application is recommended for recording; a browser can suspend audio when its window is minimized.
Create the session
- Click New session in the application's navigation bar.
- Search for and select your patient. If they are not in your list, use the creation button in the same window and complete their details.
- Delta opens the session linked to that patient. Creating the session does not start recording.
Depending on your profession, the application may use the word client instead of patient.
Choose and test your microphone
In Session capture, open the Microphone panel. Select the microphone you want to use. If the list is empty, use Refresh microphones and allow microphone access when requested.
Before recording, you can open Test my microphone from this panel. Once the test is finished, click Back to return to your session.
Start and follow the recording
- Click Start in Session capture.
- Wait for the active recording indicator and timer to appear. Check that the audio level reacts when you speak.
- Continue your consultation, keeping the microphone connected and the computer awake. Check any audio warning displayed by Delta.
You can add useful information in Session notes. Your changes are saved automatically; check the save indicator before leaving the page.
If you move to another page within Delta, a banner keeps the recording controls available and lets you return to the session.
Finish the recording
Click Stop to finish the recording and keep it for processing. Wait for the capture status to update while Delta prepares the audio and transcription.
Cancel asks you to confirm that you want to discard the recording. To keep your recording at the end of the consultation, use Stop.
Generate and review your report
In Report, click Generate report when the button is available. Generation may wait for the transcription to finish. The information button beside it explains why generation is unavailable or when automatic generation can take place.
When the report is ready, review the concise summary, detailed summary and topics for the next session. You can edit these fields; check that your changes have been saved.
You can find this session again in Sessions or from the patient's record.
