Session not starting
Resolve a recording that will not start: check the connection, microphone, another active capture and application updates.
Start recording from the session page
Creating or opening a session does not start an audio recording. Once your patient's session is open, use the recording controls on that page.
- In Session capture, click Start once.
- While the button shows a loading indicator, check for a microphone permission request and respond to it. Wait for the result before trying again.
- Check that the active recording indicator and timer appear, and that the sound level responds to your voice. If an error appears, follow the checks below before retrying.
Check the connection
Starting a recording requires an internet connection to Delta. If the application reports that the connection is unavailable, check your network and whether another website opens. Reaching another website does not guarantee that Delta itself is reachable.
Once your connection is restored, return to the same session and click Start again. A successful microphone test checks the local audio; it does not confirm that a session recording can connect to Delta.
Check whether another recording is active
Delta allows one active capture at a time for your account. The Start button can be unavailable while another session is recording or while a capture is starting or stopping.
- If another session is recording in this application, use Back to session in the recording banner. On a small screen, use its return arrow. Finish that recording with Stop before starting another.
- Changing pages within Delta does not stop the recording. Check the recording banner before assuming that it has ended.
- If Delta says that a capture is already active elsewhere, check your other tabs, application windows and devices. If you find an active recording, finish it there before retrying here.
- After an unexpected application closure, the same message may appear even if nothing is recording. Follow the displayed advice to wait one or two minutes, then try again. If it remains blocked, contact our team.
Check the microphone before retrying
- Open Microphone in Session capture, then use Refresh microphones if needed.
- If your usual microphone cannot be found, reconnect it or explicitly choose another microphone from the list. If the selected device cannot be opened, check its connection and whether another application is using it exclusively.
- Check any microphone permission message, then use Test my microphone before starting a new recording. Listen to the test clip and use Back to return to the session.
If the microphone test works but the recording still fails to start, note the exact error. The recording also needs to connect to Delta and prepare its audio storage, so a working microphone alone does not identify every startup problem.
Distinguish recording from report generation
Your Free or Pro allowance concerns sessions with a report. It does not prevent the microphone recording from starting.
If the problem appears when you click Generate report, follow the message in the report section. For an allowance message, open Settings and Plan and usage to see the remaining allowance and reset date. This is a separate step from starting the recording.
Update or reopen the application when needed
- In the desktop application, install an update when Delta offers one. If the Update required screen appears, follow it to continue using the service.
- Before closing or restarting Delta or your browser, finish any recording, wait for audio transfers to complete and check that your notes are saved. Follow any warning that asks you to stay in the application.
- Once these operations are complete, close and reopen the application or browser if the problem persists, then return to the session and retry.
If you still cannot start, contact our team using the help block below. Include the exact message, whether you use the browser or desktop application, your operating system and what you have already checked. Do not send patient information or consultation audio.
